What the audiences say ... !  Their words, not ours!

Peter manages to turn a hesitant group of teenagers into a group of actors full of conviction. His theatre combines humour with history and is therefore not only fun, it's also educational. Parents thanked me for hiring Peter, so that is of course a compliment to him.

Gigglemug came to our school, for the second time, to work on the interactive Charleston Murder mystery with our 3rd year Gymnasium students.
This interactive theatre takes the students out of their comfort zone, into acting. At the same time they hear, speak and are immersed in the English language. And have fun!

The actors are very enthusiastic and are able to get every student to interact, assume a role (or two) and take part in the play. Even the more reluctant ones. The end result is a play performed by both students and actors. Lots of fun and laughter in the classroom and learning English without really learning it.

What did you love?

Enthusiasm, it was different to what the students have done before.

Are there any ways in which we can improve the overall experience?

No!  It was great!

Teacher, Rotterdam

The show was really fun to do and I also learnt about history and I also practiced with my English. So this show is definitely highly recommended!

There were a lot of short scenes about some people who may had committed a murder. When we had put all story’s together we could figure out who the murderer was! Of course I am not going to spoil who it was. To figure this out you have to do the workshop, believe me it is so much better than all other theatre shows!

The show was very exciting, because it was easier than expected. The performers explained everything very well. I had a lot of fun watching and playing. I played in multiple “short films” with different roles. I think this way of giving a show is very educational for children, because it helps you with understanding and speaking English and it gives you more confidence and it helps bonding with your group. In every part of the show I had a role and I really enjoyed it all. The performers were very friendly and did a great job at explaining and making it a good show overall. I would recommend this interactive theatre show to others. It was great!

The team had many props with them and the bigger ones (a car, donkey or plane) were creatively depicted by the participants.

In this way we were learning English with fun. u didn’t understand something they could help you very nicely. It was the nicest show I have ever played in. I would really recommend it to everyone.

… we had an entertaining and enjoyable activity where we had to act like people that lived in the golden age.  I found it utmost entertaining.  The actors were really enthousiastic so they got us enthousiastic too.  10/10

I liked this workshop.  It’s a creative, fast paced workshop with lively people.  I liked the situations … it was continually full of energy.

Last Thurday I experienced an exceptional workshop about the Golden Age by Gigglemug interactive theatre.  The actors were really good because they had a very strong British English accent and excellent acting skills which made us assume it was their true character.  My most favourite part of this workshop was the part where I had to perform a Shakespeare scene.  I think everyone needs this workshop because you not only learn good English but also interesting facts about the Golden Age.

I had an exquisite time with this theater group and loved it.  The acting talent was great and everyone had a great time.  Both actors were amazing and extremely helpful.  I would definitely recommend!

I loved it!  Everyone was so full of energy and it was really fun to do and to see everyone else’s act was also amazing.  I really enjoyed it, I recommend it a lot.

We had a theater workshop.  Even though I was scared and nervous, I enjoyed this experience.  The kind people tried to make me comfortable.  Thank you Gigglemug Theater!

10/10 was an amazing experience.

I think the theater workshop about the Golden Age was incredibly smart to do, because I think it was humerious and in the same time I learnt a lot, not just English, but also some information about the Golden Age.  Thank you for this experience, Gigglemug Theatre!

It was a lovely workshop because they were great at explaining what you needed to do.  The atmosphere was great, everyone was engaged and the text and play were brilliant.  They also kept mind of what everyone wanted and didn’t want to do, so no one was uncomfortable doing what they did.  The play was about the golden age, and it was educational and entertaining.  Those two aspects are a great combination and I would certainly recommend them if you want a variation in your lesson plans.

… all children were involved and could follow even with very little English. Children, parents and teachers were all entertained, it was lots of fun. It was interesting to see how you kept the children’s attention for the whole 2 hours.

The Golden-age was very interesting and was very entertaining.  The actors were fun and energetic and were good teachers …

My class and I really enjoyed it! I asked my class wether they enjoyed it and why, they told me they loved it and it helped them work on their bonding as a class!  It was really interesting seeing them light up while they were acting. I finally asked them If other classes should do the workshop as well and they agreed that it would be lovely for all classes. All in all it was a great succes!

Q:  Are there any ways in which we can improve the overall experience?

A:  Keep doing what you are doing!

The Gigglemug Theatre Group has brought Shakespeare's timeless tragedy Macbeth to life at Wolfert van Borselen Tweetalig, performing for an audience of 17-year-olds. This engaging production had a clear educational purpose: to activate the students' prior knowledge of the play, exploring its rich historical context, symbols, themes, and characters.
The actors skilfully captured the intensity and dark intrigue of Macbeth, yet balanced this with a light, interactive approach that resonated well with the students. Through creative staging and dynamic performances, the cast effectively drew the students into the world of the play, transforming a challenging text into an accessible and compelling experience.
This approach not only brought the text to life but also encouraged active learning, allowing students to connect deeply with the material. The blend of performance and interactive elements made this a powerful educational tool, reinforcing core themes while making the experience genuinely enjoyable. Gigglemug Theatre's effort to make Shakespeare relevant and engaging for a modern, youthful audience is commendable, and their work is a great example of how theatre can bridge the gap between classic literature and contemporary students.

… this was a very good practice for me!

I found it superb, because I really enjoyed the lessons.  I also adored the acting.  The instructors were very kind.

A few weeks ago, we attended a workshop from Gigglemug Theater about the Dutch and English side of the Golden Age with our Cambridge class.  It was an amazing workshop from the acting of the actors and how we travelled together with them through the Golden Age to the amazing props that made everything come to life.  I enjoyed it a lot, and I would certainly recommend his workshop to anyone who wants to have a great experience.

A few weeks ago we attended a workshop from two wonderful persons from Gigglemug theatre.  The workshop was held in golden age style, meaning we were creating stories in the UK and the Netherlands of the 17th century.  Personally, I loved the energy of our workshops leaders and it was exiting that we got to use some props.  The workshop was nice, but it were the workshop leaders who made it a fun and inspiring day.

The first thing we saw when we were two very extravangtly dressed people, that was a shock.  Their fun little plays, that anyone can take part in, were as educational as all my history lessons about this age combined!  It was an exquisite time where I learn and had fun at the same time!

We got the chance to get our of our comfort zones and had a lot fun!

I had an amazing time during the Gigglemug workshop, because I could be myself without being ashamed of being weird.  The workshop, about the golden age.  While acting we also learned things about the golden age.  It was fantastic!

The students learned a lot about how life was in the golden age.  I thought it was hilarious watching my classmates and I play a play about life in the golden age.  The people from Gigglemug Theater that organized the workshop were brilliant at acting, always happy and maked us die from laughter!

Just wonderful!

We had the pleasure to have the Gigglemug interactive theatre at school and what a wonderful experience it was with the students! The way the students were received in front of the door and welcomed by you, really already set the setting. During the workshop there were different activities related to theme and era, the props and costumes really added to this! It was lovely to see how much time and attention Peter had for the students who needed to warm up a bit first by some compliments, very encouraging.

Overall, a wonderful workshop and our students had fun!
ay which was really enjoyable.  The theme; the Golden-age was very interesting and was very entertaining.  The actors were fun and energetic and were good teachers …

We all had a wonderful time last Thursday. Thank you so much for your energy and passion for interactive theatre. Some children have never experienced theatre since it's mainly in Dutch which our pupils can't speak so to have this in our school really showcased what is possible in English with children of this age.

I really recommend Gigglemug as an extracurricular learning activity for students. They learn a lot from participating in this performance: they dive into the English language and become aware of different times in history, while our play was set in the early 1900s. The actors show a lot of passion and know how to convey this to the students.

We asked “what did you love?”  We got the answer:

The start, the costumes, the energy, the humour

It was great having you! Thanks for the excellent workshops. The students really enjoyed them.

Gigglemug provided 5 groups of bilingual students at the KSG Apeldoorn with fantastic workshops this week. Both the Charleston Murder Mystery and The Golden Age workshops had our students actively participating in a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging way. Thank you Gigglemug!

Gigglemug Interactive Theatre has a great line-up of various shows for all different ages. From the first moment Peter opens the door to beam a mighty “Hellloooooo” the students are engaged.

Throughout the 45 minute workshop 200% is given by the actors to make sure that everyone is included. Despite not speaking Dutch, the actors manage to communicate in such a pleasant way that every student of mine walked out being impressed by how much English they knew! What a confident boost!

The preparation beforehand is thorough with a complete teachers pack to get the students excited. The communication is pleasant and everything ran smoothly.

When it comes to the workshop their talent lies in “less is more”. With simple props the actors seem to transform into the various characters but not only that, the little bit of props the students receive help them in a large way to really become part of the Gigglemug world.

Thank you to Peter and the team! We look forward to seeing you again at our school!

Teacher, Culemborg

What did you love?

The interaction, the engagement, and the charisma of the actors of course. The students who were hesitant at first say they were captivated by the activity (Murder Mystery workshop) and totally loved it.

What, if anything, would you like to change?

Can’t think of anything.

Are there any ways in which we can improve the overall experience?

We loved it all.

Are there any topics which you would like to see us covering?

The Murder Mystery was an absolute favourite among our students.

The students were engaged, learnt a lot ... many topics were covered ... you truly motivated the students and had boundless energy!

I did the interactive theatre show from Gigglemug! It was the funniest and loveliest theatre show I have ever seen. And also I have ever done, because my classmates and I played in the show.

I personally really liked the fact that it was an interactive show, because that meant we had to play the extras in the story ourselves, and I really enjoyed doing that. Exaggerating a lot and showing off our acting skills :)  We also had to dress up to make the show seem even more real.

As someone who doesn’t like to act, I greatly appreciate the actors for making sure everyone had a good time.  They play about the “Golden Age” and it was amazing how we we’re able to act out scenes fast and fun!  The actors we’re surely professionals though my view.  I advise everyone to definitely hire them for a pleasurable experience.

Last week we had a lovely theatre workshop.  With two kind and patient actors, they were very talented.  We acted out some scenes set in the golden age.  It was a wonderful experience and interesting for everyone.  We really recommend it!

The theater was amazing!  I enjoyed acting, it was wonderful when we went back to the golden age.  The actors were sweet and hilarious.  I adored it, I’d definitely act with them again!

… I have never done anything like these before.  I really enjoyed it, it was splendid, specially the part where we were aloud to act … If you are into acting, I absolutely recommend you participing, if this is not your thing … you’re still going to love it.

An incredibly interactive experience, both fun and interesting!  This is how I experienced Gigglemugs Golden Age!  I enjoyed it tremendously and will always remember our own little masterpiece!

I found Gigglemug Theater a really amazing experience.  I learned a lot about the UK in the golden age.  I really recommend you to do this!

The workshop that we had with Gigglemug theatre was absolutly amazing.  The way they took us back to the Golden age was mind-boggling.  And the experience was amplified by the actors who helped us.  I don’t this very often but this was a exquisite experience.

I was absolultely flabbergasted by the acting talent, they were so enthusiastic and entertaining.  I really felt like I was in the golden age!

It was an absolute pleasure to have been included in this.  I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for an entertaining afternoon!

Last Thursday, with our Cambridge class we had a wonderful experience with Gigglemug Interactive Theatre.  It was really enjoyable and the actors were hilarious!  Their acting was truly astonishing and they made sure everyone felt comfortable.  It was educational, because we learnt a lot about the Golden Age.  I liked playing an angry villain, it was great.  I would totally recommend it to other students, not to only learn about the history but also to have fun with your fellow classmates!

Review:  Four our Cambridge lessons, we had a play which was really enjoyable.  The theme; the Golden-age was very interesting and was very entertaining.  The actors were fun and energetic and were good teachers …

Overall, a wonderful workshop and our students had fun!

I thought it was great how you handled some of the students who were a bit passive. My class isn't a Cambridge class so their level of English might be a bit lower than the other classes so I noticed that they didn't understand all of the historical words used. But the way you both explained it and showed it to them was great!

We asked “what did you love?”  We got the answer:

Your boundless enthusiasm, the way you interacted with our students and drew them out of their shells, your use of English, the story itself – the list goes on and on.

We asked “what did you love?”  We got the answer:

I really enjoyed how you built all segments of the theater piece with students and put it all together into a successful performance.  In addition, I really liked your flexibility and ability to improvise. You kept the students engaged the whole time.
